AMADOR COUNTY (CBS13) – A registered sex offender has been arrested after sheriff’s detectives say he was stealing items from a cemetery and giving them away to neighbors as gifts.
Jimmy Ray Goodall
Earlier this month, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a man was stealing mementos and flowers from grave sites and from the mausoleum at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson.
Amador County Sheriff’s detectives identified the subject as a registered sex offender Jimmy Ray Goodall, 59, of Linden and formerly of Amador County.
“He took items from kids to war veterans,” Amador County Sheriff Martin Ryan said.
Detectives responded to Goodall’s residence and reportedly located items of stolen property in plain view. When contacting residents living nearby, detectives reportedly found stolen property that had been given to neighbors as gifts.
“We’ve seen people deface grave markers, destruction, … vandalism in graveyards, but to actually remove mementos left by loved ones for their departed relatives really takes it beyond the pit,” Ryan said.
Detectives arrested Goodall at his mother’s residence in Valley Springs and charged him with malicious acts (theft) at a cemetery, possession of stolen property and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
“It’s particularity invasive and egregious when you invade someone’s sorrow like that,” Ryan said.
Goodall was booked into the Amador County Jail with bail set at $40,000.
Very interesting info on Ghost Hunters!Perfect just what I was searching for!
juggalo43062there has been a major haunting there at the the first tunenl. my old brother and his friends went through the tunenl all the way and stuff started to happened.Trees started get knocked over glow worms started to spell things out and they chased out of there. And my brother and i and a friend we went during the day to investigate we found lots of evidence moonshine or butter jugs and b and o rail road plates broken.
The City View Cemetery has certainly been cleeand up (best looking part of City View now). When I was a young girl in the 1940s, the cemetery was overgrown with weeds and fallen- rotten trees all over the place. The older graves (some from 1800s) were caved in and you could see parts of rotten caskets and metal casket handles sticking out of the ground. Looks like many of the stones have been cleeand up and redone too. I wonder if the county had it cleeand it up, or if possibly some civic group did it? There were bones thrown over the hill when I was young (by a man named Shamrock, who was the county paid grave digger) . One time we found a skull thrown over the hill and carried it around on a stick, holding it up to people’s windows and then running like the wind. We never desecrated any graves though. My Mother found out about the skull and we (neighborhood kids) were in BIG trouble. Mother went to the county and raised holy heck about it being a health hazard and a disgrace because of the mess the entire cemetery was in. I regret my disrespect and have felt guilt pangs many times as an adult for my childhood ignorance (Too many scary movies at Middleburg Theater). I would bet that some of Logan County’s earliest settlers are buried there. Some of the older death records refer to the cemetery as Coal Branch while later ones call it City View Cemetery. The Cemetery is owned by the county and it is (or was) where people could be buried at no charge by the county. It is where black people were buried during days of segregation, but there are more white people buried there than black, simply because of statistics. It is what would be called a “Potter’s Field” in metropolitan areas. Does anyone know when the cemetery was cleeand up and when? Has anyone ever recorded the names in the cemetery? The county SHOULD have records of everyone buried there after the county took it over; I suspect in the 1920s or even earlier. Thank you for the wonderful pictures, Frank.
I have been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting paranormal articles like yours. More off the wall stuff PLEASE!!!
my mother in law is up there swemohere yes, it has certainly been cleaned up, i have tried to find it on pc, but this is the first time in years, thank you for putting it on here..the family used to go every yr. and clean her grave and other family members but that was way back in 50 s. It was terrible getting up there since Bertha Miller was up near top of mt will check it out next time we come in Thank you again for pictures. phyllis
KEJohnson72man i went there in july of 07. it was crazy. first of all we got a picture of a ghost. and not a orb beaucse i think orbs are just dust. but anyway it was a full body ghost. we had tons of experiences there. i saw a black mass in human form on the other side of the tunnel. my friend saw a weird orange mist. and my sister heard a old mans voice in the tunnel and there were no old men there.
traciedpuckettI really didn’t get a lot of great shots at the Tunnel last night, but there were one or two that gave me chllis. I took a picture from mid-tunnel looking down to the far end, and it looks as though a man is walking in the center of the opening. I was with my mom, step dad and brother, but they were all at the opposite end when I took this picture. It was really creepy!
, ‘None whatsoever’”Don’t expcet any. I’m not a psychologist, but I think ole’ Keith would probably score pretty high on the “psychopathy checklist.” Remorse in a court of law is overrated anyway, and just gives psychopathic offenders incentive to use their acting skills, which could further torment the victim’s family/friends.
Of course the Old Mullins Cemetery is lcoated in High St. just as it comes down the steep hill in back of Old Central School. Their is a cemetery at the top of the hill in Stratton Hollow. The entrance is in the big curve just at the top of the hill to the left. Its been years since I’ve been there. My kids grew up on Pine St. and had friends that lived up there and I had the only dune buggy that the kids could seek out and ride on. Joe Blair who was on the Board of Education lived up there. Although the normal road ended you could take a dune buggy out through there and come out at Wilson Camp. Joe Fish had a Volkswagen that had been cut in half and was a two passenger. Me and the kids ran into him up there one day. Didn’t talk much just squeezed by because there was no road just a path.
You made some decent points on grant and the ghost hunters here. I looked on the internet for the issue and found most individuals are too loyal and stupid about their favorite show to go along with with your website.
I enjoy you because of your whole hard work on this site. My daughter really likes getting into internet research and it is obvious why. Most people hear all relating to the lively method you offer worthwhile things via the website and cause response from other people on the theme while our own princess is without a doubt being taught so much. Take advantage of the rest of the year. You are doing a fantastic job.
